Solar PV Size
7.2 kWp existing solar PV system
Completed February 2026
A follow-on upgrade to a Cowplain solar and battery installation, adding a second battery and EPS backup capability with clearly separated backed-up and grid-only circuits.
Key details from this Bespoke PV installation.
7.2 kWp existing solar PV system

Cowplain, Waterlooville, Hampshire
The initial installation included a Fox ESS 10kW inverter and EP11 battery. As the customer’s energy requirements developed, Bespoke PV returned to expand the battery system and implement an EPS backup arrangement for the property.
A second Fox ESS EP12 battery was added to increase the available storage capacity. This allowed the property to make better use of stored energy and provided the foundation for a more resilient backup setup.
The upgrade also included replacement of the consumer unit, with a double row FuseBox board selected to clearly separate the backed-up circuits from the circuits that would remain grid-only.
Key details from the Cowplain battery expansion and EPS backup upgrade.
A good EPS design is not simply about putting every circuit onto backup power. It is about deciding which circuits are genuinely useful during a grid outage and which loads would deplete the batteries too quickly.
For this property, the EV charger, external power socket for the customer’s camper van and electric shower were kept as grid-only circuits. This means they are not currently backed up by the EPS system, preserving stored energy for more practical household circuits during an outage.
This approach gives the customer better resilience without compromising the battery reserve unnecessarily.
As part of the EPS upgrade, the existing consumer unit was replaced. Bespoke PV selected a double row FuseBox board to create a clear separation between circuits backed up by the EPS system and circuits that remain grid-only.
This separation makes the installation easier to understand, inspect and maintain. It also makes it clear which household circuits will continue to operate from battery backup during a grid outage and which high-load circuits have deliberately been excluded.
The grid-only circuits include the EV charger, the external power socket used for the customer’s camper van and the electric shower.
A Fox ESS EP12 battery was added to increase the available storage capacity.
Selected household circuits can be supplied from the battery system during a grid outage.
A new double row FuseBox board was installed as part of the EPS setup.
The board layout clearly separates EPS-backed circuits from grid-only circuits.
The EV charger, camper van socket and electric shower remain grid-only to protect battery reserve.
The system now provides a stronger foundation for both day-to-day energy management and outage support.

By adding a second EP12 battery and implementing EPS, the customer gained a more resilient and flexible home energy system.
The replacement double row FuseBox consumer unit gives the installation a clear structure, separating backed-up circuits from grid-only high-load circuits. This helps preserve battery capacity during outages while keeping essential or useful circuits available from stored energy.
As a follow-on to the original solar and EP11 battery installation, this upgrade gives the property a stronger battery platform and a more practical backup power arrangement.
